One of the first things you can do to promote your newly published post it to post it on your Facebook Page. This allows you it to be seen by those you follow your page.
You can likewise choose what time to post and include hashtags to increase its reach.
Participate in Facebook Groups
If you have your own Facebook Group, that would be a great place to share your new post. Otherwise, you can do so with other groups.
That said, do be careful when doing thing.
Each Facebook Group has its own rules. Some are for communication, advice and sharing information, not promotional. If you share your posts there, you may get banned.
So, check before doing so.
Post on Facebook Promotion Groups
One type of Facebook Group that accepts sharing of your own posts are promotional groups. These often have schedules. So, you should figure out when you can promote your own articles.
The good news is, there are lots of them. The key is to find them. Then, schedule them in a way where you can keep promoting regularly.
Use Facebook Ads and Boosted Posts
Like all online platforms, Facebook needs to make money in order to be profitable. It does so primarily through ads.
That is, it allows you create ads to promote your posts, Facebook Page or blog.
One of it’s best features is retargeting, where it keeps track of what people visit or do so that it can show them ads that are related to their interests.
If you’re just starting your blog, Pinterest is one of the fastest ways you can drive traffic to your new website.
That’s because like Google, it’s a search engine. But unlike Google, it focuses on images.
As such, this feature makes Pinterest very different from other popular social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Pin on Pinterest
Pins are images of your blog posts. And, by creating pins and posting them on Pinterest, you’re allowing other users to find your content.
What makes Pinterest different from Facebook and Twitter is that users often rely heavily on the Pin’s image to decide whether they’d like to check out your article or not.
As such, a beautiful pin goes a long way in promoting your content.
Schedule Your Pins With Tailwind
Tailwind is a social media scheduling software that focuses on Pinterest. In does so by allowing you to schedule your pins for an entire month or more.
And, in doing so, you’ll be able to pin anywhere from 1 to 100 times a day without having to do it manually.
That’s a game changer.
Join Pinterest Group Boards
Pinterest Groups aren’t what they used to be. But, they’re still very effective in allowing your content to be seen by more people.
That’s because Pinterest Group Boards are communities of many users. As such, if a Group Board has 2,000 members, pinning your new blog post there allows the members to see it, share it or click through to your article.
Get into Tailwind Tribes
Tailwind Tribes is a more recent addition to the Tailwind app. It works pretty much like group boards.
But, you need a Tailwind account to join.
Another difference between Tailwind Tribes and Group Boards is that you’ll need to pin others’ pin at least as many times as you pin on the Tribe. This ensures that posts in the tribe are shared.
So as a member, your odds of being seen and shared increase significantly.
Give Promoted Pins a Try
Promoted Pins are Pinterest’s advertising feature. As such, you can pay to promote your pins so they get more exposure.
A/B Test Your Headlines and Pin Images
Pinterest pins rely heavily on the image and your headline. A good image and headline combination often means high engagement.
That is, lots of people which check out your pin, repin it (share) or click through to your blog.
But, that’s not always the case. Sometime, you end up with duds.

Participate in Forums and Communities
Forums and other communites are another great way to get more people to notice your content.
Quora for example lets you reply to all sorts of queries. In doing so, you can leave a link to your blog post if they want to learn more about what you just discussed.
You can likewise try niche-specific forums. You’ll likely need to do a little more searching here to find them. And, filter out those that don’t have a lot of activity.
Take Advantage of Content Curation Sites
Content curation sites allows its users to compile articles from all over the web. This makes it easy to go back to particular subject matter to see all the relevant posts.
Sites like Scoop.it, Pearl Trees and Paper.li are just a few of the content curation sites on the web.
Add Your Blog Post on Content Aggregators
Content aggregators compile content from different websites and categorize them to make them easy to find.
This lets allows you take advantage of their audience who can find your content within their site.
The catch is that not all are free. And, in some cases you’ll need to apply to become a “contributor”.
One of the best known aggregators that’s been around for a while now is Alltop. Similarly, Blog Engage is another option.
Syndicate Your Content
Syndicated content is very similar to how newspapers, magazines and even TV reruns do them.
Basically, you offer up copy of your blog post, which they can syndicate.
In doing so, your article gets featured on other websites and blogs online.
However, you do need to be careful with this strategy. That’s because Google isn’t fond of duplicate content.
As such, it’s important that these syndication sites indicate in their HTML code that your copy is the original one. And, that’s done by using the rel=”canonical” tag.
How to Promote Your Blog Post Using Email Marketing
Email marketing is very different from all the other promotional strategies on the list because it’s internal.
That is, you’re not promoting to people outside but within. At least if you consider your subscribers your “peeps”, which you should.
This makes promoting to them more intimate.
Start Building Your List
Before you can take advantage of your email list, you need to build it first.
Often, this means offering a freebie to entice readers to opt in to your newsletter.
In doing so, your visitors are giving you permission to email them when you feel there’s something useful you can offer to them.

This isn’t going to drive tons of traffic to you blog. But, by adding your links to your email signature, you’re making anyone you communicate with aware of it.
So, if they’re interested in knowing more about you, or about your content, they can check you out just by clicking on the link.
Email People You Know
After you’ve been in a niche for a while, you’ll likely have a friends.
So, when you publish a new article that you feel is worthy of being shared, you can tell your blogging friends about it.

This is very similar to the previous one. But, the main difference being that you explicit ask your friends to share it on their social media or to their email list.

On the other hand, they might not have as big an email list. But, they’re subscribers are loyal fans who’ll be more likely to listen to what your friend tells them to do.
Send Your Emails at the Best Times
Depending on what email marketing software you use, it may or may not have a send time optimization feature.
But if it has, take advantage of it.
For example, Mailchimp has this feature. As such, you can analyze when the best time to send your email is. Doing so lets you send at the optimum times when your message is more likely to be opened.

This is why your competitors are more like friends rather than your enemies.
They’ll actually help you market your blog and blog posts.
But, only if you produce high-quality content.
Do Influencer Marketing
Influencer marketing is very much like celebrity endorsements.
In this case, you’ll enlist the help of big-name bloggers in your niche the same a brand may get George Clooney or Former President Barack Obama to endorse their products.
In doing so, you earn credibility. And, to a large degree get noticed by their audience as well.
Some examples include:
- Interviewing a top blogger in your niche
- Doing an expert roundup that mentions many different big-name bloggers
- Ask them to guest post on your blog
- Having offer a testimonial about your product
Try to Get into Roundup Posts
Roundup posts are when bloggers curate content, quotes or other things from other bloggers.
In doing so, they mention the article or quote and include the blogger’s name and/or photo in it.
Getting featured in roundup posts offers a few advantages:
- You’ll often receive a backlink from that blog
- The blogger’s audience will get to know you
- Some of the readers of that blog may like what you say or wrote and click to find out more on your website
Practice Blogger Outreach
Blogger outreach is when you reach out to another blogger. Often, with the purpose of asking for something.
This could be for them to share your content, link to a blog post of yours or promote your product among other things.
In all of these scenarios, your goal is to get exposure to their audience.
Do Guest Posts
Guest posting on other blogs is one oldest promotional techniques around. But, done correctly, it still works very well.
The key it to make sure you’re guest posting on the right blogs. That means choosing blogs that:
- Are in your niche
- Have a good amount of visitors
- Ideally high domain authority since you’ll receive a backlink
- Credible blog, I.e. nothing spammy, de-indexed or penalized. Otherwise, these “traits” will be “passed on” to you due to their backlink.
Comment on Blogs in Your Niche
Commenting on other blogs is much like guest posting. But, without much of the benefits.
That’s because commenting is much easier.
Just about anyone can leave a comment on other blogs. And, as long as your comment isn’t spammy, it will be approved.
However, the benefits of commenting is somewhat limited to two things:
- It gives you recognition. That is, the blogger and their readers get to know who you are
- Some people may click on your blog’s link to visit your site
That said, commenting as a promotional technique is better used to open doors and for getting to know other bloggers.
That’s because you’re not going to get a lot of traffic from it or link juice.
Build Backlinks for Authority with Search Engines
This isn’t a promotional strategy in the pure sense of the word.
That’s because while you may get some visits from it, it’s true value is the SEO benefits it offers.
And that, you’ll only realize in the long-term. You’re not going to see any immediate increase in traffic much like you would from social media.
That said, once you’ve collected a lot of backlinks, your blog’s domain authority will rise. When it reaches a certain point, your blog posts will start ranking on Google search for their targeted keywords.
That’s when all your work building backlinks pays off: The consistent traffic from search engines.
Using Paid Ads to Promote Your Content
Paid ads are unique in that they only work if you pay for them.
But, they can likewise be more effective if you know what you’re doing.
The reason being that ads allow you to target specific audiences. So, the more you know who you’re audience is and where to find them, the better your results will be.
Create Ads on Social Media Platforms
Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn all allow you to create advertisements to promote your blog.
The key is to figure out which platform to promote on. And, how to effectively promote them so you see a return on your investment.
That’s because running ads cost money. So, you need to make sure you’re getting the results.
Take Out Native Ads on Content Discovery Platforms
In addition to social media advertising there are also content discovery platforms. Outbrain and Taboola are two of the many available.
These allow you to promote your content on other blogs. But, they’re shown as it they’re part of the blog itself.
You’ve probably seen these ads on the bottom of blog posts or in the sidebar.
Buy Search Ads
Finally, there’s Google Adwords. These are called search ads because they appear with the search results.
But, as an advertiser, you get priority. That means, Google will place your ads on to of the results, right above the #1 spot for the keyword.
That’s the advantage you get for paying for their ads.
Optimize Your Blog Post
One way to promote your content without actually doing marketing is to optimize them.
Optimizing your blog and blog post is essentially called on-page SEO.
That’s because your applying best practices onto your site to make Google understand it better.
In doing so, your content targets a specific keyword. And, Google is able to categorize it as such.
Here’s how to get more traffic by applying on-page SEO.
Add Keywords to Your Blog Post’s Title, URL and Meta Description
The easiest way to do this is by using the Yoast SEO Plugin.
This plugin allows you to set up your blog’s on-page SEO settings through it’s dashboard.
Just as importantly, it makes it easy to optimize each new blog post for specific keywords.

The reason your content’s title, URL and meta descriptions are important is twofold:
- Google uses your title and URL as factors in its ranking algorithm
- The 3 elements are what users see in Google’s results. So, they’re the only things you can use to convince the searcher to click on your article as opposed to the other 7-9 on the page.
Use the Keywords in Your Content
Sprinkling your main keywords along with other long-tail and LSI (related) keywords also help a lot.
That’s because although you may only be targeting one main keyword, Google’s algorithm has become smart enough to “connect the dots”.
Thus, it’s able to associate words and phrases with synonyms and related terms. This allows you to rank for those keywords and phrases as well.
Optimize Your Images
Photos, images and graphics of any kind help increase user engagement.
But, they’re also heavy in terms of size. This slows down your page load time.
So, what should you do?
Always use images that are relevant to your article. But, make sure to compress them before uploading to your WordPress Editor.
Free tools like Optimizilla allows you to compress images in bulk to save time.
Additionally, don’t forget to fill out the Alt text tag for each image. This helps Google index and categorize your images accordingly on its Image Search.
Encourage Readers to Share Your Post
One of the best things about social media is that you don’t have to share all your content yourself.
If you have something good, people are all to willing to share it for you.
But, you have to make it easy for them to do so. That’s because nobody’s going to take that much extra time to do something that isn’t theirs.
The best ways to do this is to add social sharing buttons to your website. You can do so by installing one of the many plugins available.
That said, for social sharing, I particularly like Social Warfare. That’s because it shows you the stats (which offer social proof). Additionally, it lets you pre-load images and include the descriptions with them. This makes it easy for visitors to choose which image they’d want to share on their social accounts.
Explicitly Ask Them to Share
At times, all it takes is to ask.
This was one of the most interesting things I learned early on. Sometimes, you need explicitly ask for the share. And, many times people will oblige.
But, of course, you need to have content that’s worth sharing. After all, what they share to their followers is a reflection of themselves.
Learn How to Write for the Web
Writing for the web is very different from what you learned in school. In fact, you’ll probably need to “unlearn” some of the things your elementary English teacher taught you.
That’s because people skim a lot more online. And, they’re picky as to what they want to read.
This means you need to format and structure your blog posts to make it easy to skim and go through, especially on small screens.

Add Links From Your Best Posts to Your New Article
Your best posts are those that get the most traffic.
As such, you want to be able to entice readers to check out other related articles you have about that topic.
It makes sense to do so because they’re interested in that subject matter, which is why they’re reading your piece.
Adding links from your popular posts allows your readers to “find” these related articles. Many of which they may have otherwise not seen or noticed.
Interlink Related Articles at the End Of Your Post
Finally, you can likewise add related articles at the end of your blog post. You’ve probably seen in many blogs.
This serves the same purpose as the linking to other posts. That is, to give readers a chance to consider reading more content (and staying longer on your site).
Using Your Existing Content
More recently, the term “Freshness” has become the new blogging “buzz word”. That’s because large platforms like Google and Pinterest have put more emphasis on it.
Basically, freshness means “new” content.
As such, they’re encouraging users to create new things.
What’s more interesting is that “new” content doesn’t necessarily mean you have to craft a brand new article, podcast or video. It just has to come in some form that’s different from what you already have.
Here’s how to get more traffic with your your existing content by using the “freshness” principle.
Repurpose Your Blog Post
Repurposing a blog post is using the existing content to create new content. You do so by publishing it another format.
For example, you have a blog post about “Paleo diet foods”.
One way to repurpose it is to create a video. Another would be to produce a podcast about it. Or, you can likewise make an inforgraphic.
This allows you to transform 1 piece of content into many different “new posts”.
All of which are considered “fresh” in the eyes of search engines.
Update Your Old Blog Posts
Another option to getting more traffic from your existing articles is to update your blog posts.
Again, this falls under the “freshness” principle. That’s because you’re adding new information into your old content.
So, the end result is Google seeing a new post.
Promote Old Content (That Was Popular) Again
This one doesn’t fall under the “freshness” rulle. That’s because you’re not adding or repurposing your existing blog post.
Instead, you’re running a new promotional campaign so new “eyeballs” will see it.
This works because many of these people likely didn’t know about the article the first time you published it.
So, by promoting it to a new set of people, you’re able to drive new traffic to an old post.
The one exception here is Pinterest.
With Pinterest, using old content can actually be considered “fresh”. That’s because new content on Pinterest is a pin with a new image. As such, creating a new pin image allows you to make “new content” on the platform..
Don’t Forget to Measure Your Blog Promotion Results
Measuring the results of each of the tactics is crucial to success.
That’s because different strategies work differently for each niche, stage your blog is in, and target audience.
As such, it’s important to use a spreadsheet to track all your actions. And, check their results with Google Analytics.
Doing so allows you to narrow down the strategies you’ll stick with in the long-term.
There are tons of blog promotion strategies available to you as a blogger.
Unfortunately, they’re not created equal.
Some are more effective than others. And, some work better for certain goals.
The list above will allow you to choose the best promotion tactics for the platforms you’re on. It likewise allows you to target specific things, like backlinks, shares or more visitors.
